College of Tourism
The College of Tourism – Varna at Varna University of Economics is a successor of the first International Tourism Training Centre, established in this country by the Tourism Directorate at the Council of Ministers with Order No. 811 dated November 8, 1963. Training was initially started in St. St. Constantin and Elena Resort, and later continued at Golden Sands Resort, the objective being to train hotels and restaurant managers and deputy managers, hotel receptionists and restaurant waiters, and subsequently tourist guides, tourism information office admin and tourism managers.
In its 50-year-old history, the College of Tourism – Varna has trained over 8,300 full-time specialists and over 3200 part-time ones. They have been the backbone of Bulgarian tourism and travel business and they hold key positions as operation managers and executive personnel. Many of the college lecturers graduated from it too so now they are consultants, team members and managers of regional, national and international projects for sustainable development of tourism education and tourism as a sector of the Bulgarian economy.
The College of Tourism at Varna University of Economics trains professional Bachelors (3 years of studies, 180 credits) in the following majors: Tourism Management, Leisure Time Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Management of Tourism in Russian.
